When driving in the sandy environment of Fraser Island, beware of the washouts on the beach as they can damage your car quite considerably.  Do not travel at night unless necessary and travel as close as possible to low tide times. Reduce tyre pressure to between 18-20 psi for soft sand driving. 

Normal road rules apply to all sections of the island. A maximum of 35km/h on inland road and 80 km/h on the beach is permitted speed wise. Try to avoid sharp cornering if possible as reduced tyre pressure can cause tyres to roll off of their rims. Keep your vehicle in 4WD at all times to prevent erosion. Carry essential spares, water, extra fuel and a large first aid kit.
