Fraser Island was
formed from the sands that are carried by tides
and the water currents up the Queensland coast,
from the Northern New South Wales region. The
forces of nature have formed the island purely
of sand, and it is for this reason that it is
known as the largest sand island in the world.
Fraser Island is
over 123 kilometres long and approximately 250
metres high; it is because of this that it is
specially managed by the Queensland National
Parks and Wildlife Service in the government
Department of Environments. |
