Overview

Half Day Whale Watch Cruises - From late July - early November the Whalesong team venture out to experience the wonder of the mighty Humpback Whale.

Whalesong is a fast, stable, luxuriously appointed 15 metre catamaran. The vessel is specifically designed for whale watching & dolphin watching with all modern facilities & equipment, kids activities, full wheelchair access, gourmet food and quality service are but a few of our features.

Whalesong also has a colour under-water video camera, which allows you to see the action down under to a depth of 30.5 metres or 100 feet. We record our footage so that people watching it live, can view it later . The boat is equipped with two full size monitors within our lower main cabin, and one monitor in the upstairs cabin, so there is no reason to miss any of the action.

About the Whales

From late JULY through to early NOVEMBER Hervey Bay is "A-BUZZ" with people venturing out to see the mighty HUMPBACK whales. The whales purposely venture into the bay to rest and relax before again heading south on their return voyage to their summer feeding grounds in Antarctica.

FRASER ISLAND not only provides a lovely backdrop, but for whale-watchers and whales alike, a welcome break from the ocean swells encountered elsewhere on Australia's East Coast. AUGUST - SEPTEMBER sees the "sub-adults" (young whales) at play.

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER we see mainly mothers and calves as well as the big bull escorts. This gives us a glimpse of the maternal side of the mums as well as the playfulness of the calves. One moment mum and calf can be observed quietly suckling, only to erupt into action when the calf has decided its time to play. A mother and calf air-born is something you will find hard to forget.

KIDS CORNER Educational and children's videos Basic Toys for toddlers, drawing and colouring in. Junior ranger activities.

WHALES/DOLPHINS NOT SIGHTED If whales/dolphins are not sighted a non-transferable ticket on a future cruise will be given at no extra cost.

SNACK BAR Chips, films, videocassettes and some lollies may be purchased from the bar. Light snacks and affordable meals are also available.

LICENSED BAR Whalesong has a fully licensed bar with a range of beers including XXXX heavy, gold & light & VB. White and red wine as well as champagne is available. UDL Cans (mixed spirits), soft drink, orange juice and bottled water can be purchased.
